There are times we need fresh starts — new beginnings. Maybe you’ve gone through a difficult season, a tough experience, or an emotionally draining event. Perhaps life circumstances have exasperated and exhausted you. Something in you is longing or begging for an opportunity to begin again.
We often attempt to satisfy these desires with superficial fixes. We think that moving to a new city, finding a new job, or changing some external thing is what we need to feel better about our lives. Most of the time these actions never really resolve anything. They may give a bit of temporary relief, but usually those old feelings of frustration and restlessness eventually surface again. Why? Because you can’t solve an internal problem with an external solution!
Look at this powerful Bible verse:
“A heart at peace gives life to the body … ” — Proverbs 14:30 (NIV)
To get “life” into your body, you need “peace” in your heart. Peace in your heart gives you a new perspective, a new attitude, new energy, new expectation, new hope, new life. Peace in your heart gives you a fresh start in your relationships, your work, and your circumstances!
Do you need a fresh start — a new beginning? Stop focusing on the externals and begin giving attention to things that are robbing peace from your heart. Give God your worries, your failures, your frustrations, your disappointments, your anger, your hurts. Get rid of anything that is stealing peace from your heart, and you’ll get a true, new start!
