God Is With You

| 1:37 min read |

Loneliness is a terrible feeling. It’s especially tough to handle duties and responsibilities when we feel isolated and alone. There’s something about having people with and around you that gives you the strength and confidence you need to deal with life.

When Jesus was about to begin His earthly ministry, He went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John the Baptist. After 30 years of preparation, it was time for Jesus to launch into His Messianic responsibilities.

The Bible describes what happened in that inaugural moment in Matthew 3:16, 17 (NIV) “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’”

What a set of supernatural events—heaven opened, the Holy Spirit dove resting on Jesus and God actually speaking from heaven in an audible voice affirming Jesus, His Son.

Why such a display? I believe that God showed up in such a powerful way, not so much for the people present as much as for the purpose of encouraging His Son. As Jesus was about to enter His life purpose, He needed to know that He wasn’t alone. He needed the reminder that His Father was with Him.

You need to know the same. You’re not alone. God the Father is with you. As you do your duties and fulfill your responsibilities, serving God’s purpose for your life, God is walking with you, and as a believer in Jesus, God is in you! Let the assurance of His presence bring you the strength and confidence you need.
